I think now (almost 5 months later) would be an excellent time to take a look at those predictions and see where we are (and whether or not any of them have come to fruition).

So here we are, your “I didn’t know that would come true review”.

So, any predictions for this year? Here are mine (and if they come true, you can say you read it here first.)

* Sometime in the middle of the year, Youtube’s popularity will start to decrease as their need to delete copyright infringing material from their servers also deletes half of their viewer base.

No comment, other than… Youtube’s popularity has only increased, and now… The Youtube Video Awards.

* In the first three months, three social networking sites will have similar cases involving pedobait and their stalkers in this order: Myspace, HotOrNot, and AOL.

No comment, although now HotorNot lets you send messages to your double matches for free instead of having to pay.

* February will see a few new cases of Bird Flu, a few deaths. What will trump this in the news is either a large outbreak of E-coli in the Midwest United States and a price hike in gasoline.

Not exactly the midwest… Taco Bell E. Coli outbreak on February 26 and Gas prices fell in February.

* Two celebrities will die in the next 4 months, one of which will be connected to drugs. The other might be ruled as a accidental suicide, but you never know – the media might get creative.

Anna Nicole and James Brown.

* In the first quarter of the year, new news of the Halo movie may break, but this may also be news about “The Hobbit”. Meanwhile, people will resume losing interest in “The Simpsons: The Movie”.

No real breaking news on Halo other than it’s dead in the water…. and it looks like my thoughts of Peter Jackson being on board for The Hobbit may have been false to myself… as it looks like Sam Raimi is talking of Directing.

* More information on 9/11 will be de-classified and made public, further fueling the already billions of conspiracy theories already flooding the internet from 5 years ago.

No comment other than 9/11 has become an even bigger excuse and fear tactic now for either furthering ones own campaign or keeping the troops at war.

* To deter possible impeachment, Bush (or his administration) will focus more resources on the War on Drugs than the War on “Terror”.

Or he’ll just act like a jackass. Whichever works.

* Another animal will be classified as extinct.

* Between now and June, between 2 and 5 school shootings will occur, most of them committed by the students at the school. One will resemble Columbine, but probably not attract as much attention as the one that claims the most lives.

Virginia Tech actually took more lives than Columbine as well as brought Columbine back into everyone’s minds… did it ever really truly go away? What would Cho do?

* North Korea will have nuclear arms, and it will be confirmed by US intelligence.

* Three terrorist cells will be identified in three separate cities. This will overshadow the fact that one slipped through the cracks.

At least 5 of these are highly likely to happen. 1 of them is very un-likely, and the rest are just thrown in there for kicks.

Welcome to the new year.

So there you have it. I wasn’t totally off the mark. Not totally.

Five things you may have suspected

Random

drugs

jobs

Problogger

Looking at Problogger and his post “Five things you may not know about this little problogger”, I saw that I have done 4 of the 5 things listed. I used to be like that. So taking on his lead, here are 5 things you may not have known about (but probably suspected):

1. I used to write poetry. In 2001, I had a collection of over 2,000 poems that I had hand written and bound together. They were lost in a series of moves, but on a trip to my father’s house a few years later, I found another collection of my poetry. My collection is now back at close to 1,000.

2. I have been blogging since 1998. I’ve moved from free service to free service, everything from AOL Hometowns to Angelfire. I’ve probably used over 30 free services in the past 8 years. 2001 saw the birth of Boyevul.com, which would be off and on until 2005. 2004 saw the birth of Boyevul.net, and Scarform.com. And then, of course, 2006 saw the re-birth of Scarform.com. All in all, if I had to guess, I’ve written between 2 and 3 thousand blog type entries.

3. In 2004, I spent 3 months traveling coast to coast with a Repo Business. After that was done, I spent a year living in Florida, a few months in Texas, and before all that? In 2001, I spent 3 months living in California, 2002 saw me in Florida for the first time for about a month, and 2000 saw me in Texas for 8 months.

4. I’ve had a lot of different jobs over the years. I’ve been everything from dish washer to grocery bagger. I’ve worked fast food and I’ve worked telemarketing. The two jobs I will never go back to are telemarketing and fast food.

5. I don’t do drugs. I’m not one of those “Drugs are for morons” type people. I just don’t have a need for them. Alcohol and cigarettes, cigarettes more than alcohol, are my two vices. And my other drug? The internet, of course.
