I had a couple of run-ins with graphic card problems a few years ago. Finally, I just bought a brand new computer and paid it off so I wouldn’t have to mess with it.

I got tired of having to upgrade my graphics card cause it seemed like every new game I got needed a new and better card. Finally I just gave up all together and got a program to work around the restriction. This worked until my card really was way to outdated, then I gave up on games all together.

Same comment as Jane’s goes for me. I haven’t really felt the need to upgrade my graphics card. With me, if it works, it works. Glad that you’ve found what’s wrong though and managed to settle it soon after.

I am so glad that I don’t really need a graphics card, obviously I need a basic one, but since I do not play games and such, I have never needed to upgrade.

With newer computers the average user can stick with what comes with it - because that is pretty much all they’ll need. For gamers, customization is usually a necessity as the factory default may not be good enough as well as the ever changing and constantly increasing level of power needed from the machine itself to even stay viable in that field.

You also run into these problems when using an older machine (like mine) that is constantly needing to be upgraded just to have the ability to play an MMO without having to deal with a lot of lag on my end. Unfortunately, at some point, I’ll have upgraded this machine to the point where I need to one of two things: get a new motherboard, or get a new computer.

As old as this one is, I think the latter will be here fairly soon.

Well, with no support for the AGP version of this card in the form of a valid and working driver, I will be returning this and exchanging it out for the PCI equivalent of the same card.
