With everything on our plates nowadays, it’s a wonder we don’t die of pure exhaustion.
24 hours in a day broken into segments to fulfill your everyday basic needs from life would result in 16 usable hours due to 8 hours going to sleep alone. That’s 1/3 of your day already gone getting read for the other 2/3 of it.
Factor in 2 meals at 30 minutes apiece and you’re down to 15.
Factor in an 8 hour workday and you’re left with 7 hours.
Also take into account travel time to and from work as well as to lunch (and even if not driving too lunch) driving to get gas to drive somewhere else. We’ll say that’s 30 minutes out of your total day spent on the road.
6 1/2 hours left. What shall we do with them?
I know - let’s spend them entertaining ourselves. The average adult watches 5 hours of television.
That leaves just 90 minutes to eat dinner, get a shower, get ready for bed, spend time with your family (or friends) or both, have a hobby, do the necessary chores to keep your home in good standing, keep tabs on the important things like the bank account, pay bills when necessary, etc., etc.
And maybe check your e-mail with that 20 seconds you’ll have to spare.
Because by the time you’re done with all of that, you’re on borrowed time - you’re already cutting into the next day’s hours.
