Complete?
Not yet it isn’t. Development on this theme, although while satisfying and well received, must, at some point, come to a halt and a “Final” or “Complete” version should be released. If there are constant updates and new versions being released, it’ll fall flat on its face simply because updating a theme every week is not ideal for those whom don’t want to do just that.
I will take in the feedback and trackbacks for the following week or so as well as draw my own conclusions on what will remain and what will be axed in the upcoming final release of the completed Bare theme.
Bugs and problems will be addressed and resolved and when the final version is released, there will also be the option of downloading 1.1 and 2.0 as well (if the final version does not please you.) upgrade instructions are available.
Future developments
I’ve got ideas for other themes, and not to give away too much, here are a few of the many ideas I’ve had floating around in my head since before work on “Bare” even began:
- “Yellowboy” would feature some drawn characters of my own creation, kind of “speaking” the blog.
- “Feel the Flow” would feature a layout that more or less resembles a flow chart, chaotic and free-flowing in its presentation but user friendly and hopefully easy to code for adding things like plugins and changing what you don’t like.
- “Photoglam” would be a photoblog theme.
- “Roguetation” would be a chaotic yet easily viewable theme with plenty of features.
Whether or not these themes get made is beyond my ability to see in to the future as I have plenty of madness happening right here at home that needs to be dealt with. And of course, all titles are tentative to the release of the theme.
You have a week
To let me know what should go and what should stay. If you the public doesn’t speak up, I will make the decision based on the critical thinking and problem solving skills of a coin… just kidding. I’ll make the decision for myself ultimately (which is the way it usually goes with anything) but I would prefer to hear from the public what should probably go.

I would recommend leaving instructions for your users on how to take out the “expand first post” feature for those of us who want a nice tight package on the front page.
Great work, DEAREST!

First of all, I consider your work as one of the best minimalist themes.
I see the ‘minimal’ or ‘bare’ as a posture or attitude to express sth beyond.
Functionwise, I guess all the necessary elements should be located correctly such as tag search result or text search function.
In case of text search, the first search result is unfurled since the latest posting is set to be unfurled. I wonder there might be a way of first search result can be furled even when the latest posting is set to be unfurled. I find it confusing whether the furled posting below the unfurled one is the proper result or not.
Another issue is navigation one when I’m in the single post view, the permalink. If there is a way to navigate next posting or previous posting, it would be better.

Also, the click of title listing on the first page can be suggested without changing the color into link color. I see it working at the single post view page which actually not needed then.

Just uploaded Bare 2.0 and excitedly loaded it in my browser. Saw this message, and hoped you could tell me what I need to do to correct the problem

either load the comment plugin or search for the commented html in the main index file that says “if you don’t want comments on the front page, delete this”.
