Last night was the premiere for (us) of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.
The beginning, middle and end were nicely strung together - although there was one part that didn’t seem quite in place to me.
There were also 3 deaths that I didn’t see coming, and to give away a few spoilers (because I’m an asshole) - the Flying Dutchman gets a new captain, three main characters die, another has a child, and one of the main characters isn’t who you think she is.
All in all it was a great movie. Plenty of action and humor to keep it going at a steady pace although it did seem to drag in only a few areas.
And while the final fight between the Pirate Lords and the Flying Dutchman was all it could have been and more, I can’t help but feel that there was something… missing from it.
Disney has outdone themselves with this franchise - turning it from a crappy amusement ride to an amazing show of pirates, danger, death, and a bit of the macabre.
This is definitely one that will be going into my dvd collection whenever it hits shelves - but until then, run to the theaters and see it. Now.
Freaking amazing.
