Yoursite.nu is dead… still.

I hate to repeat myself, but yes, this site is still dead. The only reason I am repeating myself is as follows:

On a whim, I decided to log in and see if I got any new reviews. After seeing that I didn’t, I decided to start hitting up the random website generator (it’s a random Yoursite profile that is displayed on the lower left corner of the screen.)

After clicking through 10 of these (each one leading to a website that didn’t exist anymore) and then realizing that probably out of the 2k+ websites listed within Yoursite, only about 45% of them were either broken links or dead sites, I re-realized the notion that Yes, Yoursite is dead.

So why do I keep going back? Habit, I suppose.

And maybe a dim hope that someday, Yoursite won’t be as horrible as it is now.

Here’s something interesting…

I was doing a search for myself on Google today (looking for possible old archived versions of the site, etc.) when I stumbled across Veromi.net. I didn’t really think about it until not did I see my name, I saw my fathers name.

Clicking the link, I also found my step-mothers name, my step-sisters names, and my grandmothers name - all linked as “possible relatives” to my uncle Tom.

Even more interesting is that my name doesn’t include my last name - just my first and middle name (not initial). Thinking back, I remember my father putting a phone bill in my name, which might account for that. Not really sure - it’s all Public Record anyway.

For free, this website will allow you to see what city the person lives in and a short list of possible relatives.

For $39.95 you can get:

age, possible current address, up to 20 year address history, phone numbers, bankruptcies, tax liens & judgments, property ownership, possible relatives, possible roommates, aliases / maiden names, neighbors, marriages and divorces, dea registrants, and website ownership.

For $9.95 you can get:

Phone number, addresses, possible relatives, age and associate names.

So my only question (among others, however one of them is answered for me) is how many people out there are keeping tabs on you and do you feel that you can put a price on private information to be given out to just anybody?

Back on track

The internet was hooked up a few minutes ago and we are back on track, I am very happy to say.

hosted at dreamhost?

I’m curious as to the existence of a listing of all domains hosted at Dreamhost - and whether such a list exists.

We’re hosted with them - and loving it - and was wondering as to the diversity of the sites that find these services appealing.

I’ll probably do some more digging around on Google later on, but for some reason this is really itching into my brain and needs to be satisfied!
