Let it go

Forces at work, deep in the dark underbelly of the Internet, have somehow managed to churn up the drainage system once again, and let loose a torrent of words and voices from the past that are still stewing and moaning over something that is as concrete as concrete can be.

Years after the fact, a developer from SOE who was part of the team that pushed forth the “NGE”, came forward on his blog and stated that the NGE itself was a huge “fuck-up”.

“Epoch grade.”

This, of course, ignited a swarm of fanboys and bloggers alike, who in turn lit up the wires with a mass influx of madness on the topic at hand. There does come a certain point, however, when beating a dead horse is still simple that: beating a dead horse.

What I find somewhat ironic is not the fact that one of the people responsible for pushing the NGE on the game came out years later to say that they “fucked-up”, but that the same people who continue to post on the official forums for the game about how horrible said game is are the ones who continue to log in every other day and play the game.

Whether or not the NGE was a mistake is no longer a viable concern; as the NGE itself brought about much necessary change to the game in its overall form. And never mind that the game was heading in the direction it is now – all that the NGE accomplished was skipping a few stops in getting there.

Ultimately, those who are still voicing their opinion on the NGE (no matter how irrelevant or tired it is at this point) need to just stay dormant, quiet, and sit in a corner somewhere. Because there is no debate. There is no changing it. There is only getting over it.
