Dead or Alive

Seeing as how I saw this (Dead or Alive) about… 6 months ago(?) you can bet how surprised I was when we not only received word that it was coming to theaters this month but also to see the movie posters arrive today.

With a release date of June 15th, I started wondering something: what the hell did I watch?

Taking a closer at the movie info, I realized that I had, indeed, seen the movie. So what gives?

Mininova certainly had it listed September of ‘06 – so the big question on my mind: who let it slip and whether or not it wasn’t a slip, but a release to DVD with a re-release to theaters with a ‘re-invented’ release date.

Also, IMDB has the following information:

Rated PG-13 for pervasive martial arts and action violence, some sexuality and nudity.

I remember no nudity in the version I saw. So is it possible that the DOA coming to theaters is different from what I saw? And if so, why?

It reminds me of a day back in highschool when a friend of mine got a copy of The Matrix. It was a complete copy – the only thing that was missing was the soundtrack. He had gotten it several months in advance of its actual release.

Could that have been what happened here?

I will end up seeing this movie and will have to make my own determination as to whether or not this newer version is better (or the same) as the one I have already seen.

Oh – and as to the original viewing and it’s score?

3 out of 5. Wasn’t great, wasn’t horrible. It’s everything you’d expect from a video game based movie.

A lot of people will tell you that you can learn more about yourself by keeping a journal – these people are idiots.  I have learned less about myself from blogging than I have in my every day life.  When I write, I don’t find some magical new insight into who I am or what [...]

I’ve never even seen one episode of the so-called critically acclaimed “the Sopranos”. I’ve never even liked the idea of sitting down for an hour watching an old, bald fat Italian mafia-type guy get laid, snort coke, or shoot people in the face.

But what I saw (the last episode) was beyond words. It was nothing [...]
